The Staff at
La Fonda Oakhills

One of the most crucial elements to an enjoyable evening dining out is that the waitstaff who will be serving you be courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. No matter how excellent the cuisine, being served by a bartender, waiter, or waitress who is inattentive or surly can ruin an otherwise pleasant meal. Each and every one of La Fonda's waitstaff takes pride in their professionalism and years of service. Come in and let us pamper you!

Nadine will be the cashier, and one of the first to greet you as you enter La Fonda most evenings.

Henry was a fixture at La Fonda from 1980 to 2006. His favorite dishes were the chicken con queso and the Aztec shrimp. Many, many customers asked to be seated at one of Henry's tables, and he'd like to let all of them know just how much he appreciated their loyalty, and values the friendships he's made here over the years. Sadly, Henry passed away on the first of March, 2013 after a hard fought battle with a diabetes related illness.

IIf you've been to La Fonda recently, you'll recognise the fellow below. Mike is the new bartender, and he's fast becoming friends with all his customers.

John has recently come back to La Fonda after a brief hiatus. You can't go wrong if you ask to be seated at one of his tables.

Mirna's a relatively new face at La Fonda. She'll take great care of y'all!

Jeff was a bartender here until May of 2012. He is also the webmaster who brings you the La Fonda website. Need a website for your business? - Visit www.sitemeup.com to see some examples of Jeff's work.

He has published several novels, both fictional and non-fiction. Visit Jeffrey Gowing's Books. His latest work is titled From El Norte to Cozumel (and back). It is available from Amazon in both e-book and paperback formats, as well as from other major booksellers such as Barnes and Noble.

Mr Gowing is also the author of a daily blog on living in San Antonio at San Antonio Daily.

Richard Saucedo was a favorite of many long-time La Fonda customers. He was at La Fonda since 1968, and passed away on November seventh, 2010. His favorite menu item was the skirt steak, and when away from La Fonda his passion was dancing!

Ms. Jane was with the restaurant from 1982 until 2012. She always had a smile for everyone! She would tell you to try the shrimp enchiladas. *** There in Jane's left hand is some of La Fonda's "Monday Sauce", a rich, dark, smokey salsa served (when else?) only on Monday evenings.

Maria has been at La Fonda Oakhills since August of 1984. If you are a longtime customer, you'll recognise her. When you leave, her's is the smiling face telling you: "Thanks for visiting us! Please come back soon" Maria has seven children, fifteen grandchildren, and "Nuff said" about her time at home. You'll find Maria at the cashier's station in the afternoon.

Rosa has been at La Fonda since 1982. She's "from here". Her favorite dish at La Fonda is the enchilada plate. When she's at home, she spends her free time just relaxing, and most of all, enjoying her grandchildren.
